Wednesday, 15/01/2025

Bringing joy, spreading warmth and increasing happiness for people and students facing difficulties is the meaning of the “Tet of kindness - Spring of the Year of Snake 2025” program, organized by provincial People's Committee in coordination with provincial Red Cross Society on January 14. The gifts and scholarships given not only serve as spiritual encouragement for those facing hardships, but also make the spring atmosphere warmer as love spreads and the joy of Tet gets closer to everyone.

 Spreading joy

Caring for people with difficult circumstances and vulnerable groups in the society during Tet is an important and regular task for all-level Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front, political-social organizations and associations of the province. Among them, the Red Cross Society plays the role of a “bridge” to contribute to the province's efforts in supporting those in need.

This year, the “Tet of kindness” movement continues being widely deployed by provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels, attracting attention and contributions from many individuals and organizations in and out of the province. As part of this movement, on January 14, provincial People's Committee, in collaboration with provincial Red Cross Society, held the “Tet of kindness- Spring of the Year of Snake 2025” program, awarding scholarships to students in need.

During the event, provincial Red Cross Society awarded scholarships to 300 recipients, representing nearly 1,000 disadvantaged students in the province. It is known that for the 2024-2025 school year, provincial Red Cross Society awarded nearly 1,000 scholarships worth VND 5 million each per year to disadvantaged students throughout the province, with the total value of the program nearing VND 5 billion. In addition to the scholarships, these students also received “Tet of kindness” gifts worth VND 500,000 each.

Bringing Tet to every home

To help bring a warm Tet to people still facing many difficulties in life, the organizers also delivered “Tet of kindness” gifts to 200 poor people and those with difficult circumstances. Each recipient received a gift worth VND 500,000 and VND 1 million in cash.

Along with scholarships and gifts to support disadvantaged students and people, nearly 400 poor and disadvantaged people from various localities in the province participated in a very special market during the program. They did not need to bring cash or haggle over prices, but they could “buy” essential items such as rice, instant noodles, daily spices and Tet candies at “zero dong”.

In his speech at the program, Vo Van Minh, Chairman of provincial People's Committee emphasized that this is a meaningful and deeply humanitarian program of Binh Duong province, held annually, reflecting the national virtues of “Loving others as yourself” and “Sharing with those in need” during Tet. The Tet gifts and scholarships presented today not only provide material support, but also offer spiritual encouragement, helping students overcome difficulties and excel in their learning. They also serve as a source of motivation for disadvantaged people to have more faith in the future and strive for a better life.

At this meaningful event, nearly 200 organizations and individuals supported provincial Red Cross Association’s humanitarian activities, including the “Tet of kindness-Spring of the Year of Snake 2025” movement, with a total donation of nearly VND 27 billion.

Red spring - multiplying happiness

As part of the activities organized by provincial Red Cross Society on the morning of January 14, the 2025 Red Spring Festival attracted over 1,000 volunteers, including 914 eligible to donate blood after health examination, resulting in a total of 319,900 ml of blood (350 ml per person) collected during the festival. This is one of the meaningful voluntary blood donation programs held at the beginning of the new spring, aiming at mobilizing forces to meet the blood demand for emergency care and treatment during the 2025 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

Vo Van Minh, Chairman of provincial People's Committee urged agencies, organizations, businesses, schools and localities to further focus on and strengthen propaganda and mobilization on blood donation, considering it as a political task for their locality or unit, thereby further expressing the love between people and the responsibility of each individual to the community.

To continue promoting the tradition of solidarity and kindness of our people and the achievements gained from efforts to support the poor and disadvantaged, provincial leaders hope that organizations, individuals, businesses and donors will further care for and support the poor through humanitarian programs organized by provincial Red Cross Society. “I hope that every poor household, poor person and those in difficult circumstances, with their own efforts and the care of Party committees, local authorities and the community will further strive to overcome difficulties for a more prosperous and happier life”, said Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee and Chairman of provincial People's Committee.
