In the context of strong industrial and urban development, Binh Duong has made constant efforts to protect and improve the living environment. With specific and practical actions of all levels, sectors, localities and people, the environment in the province is increasingly improved.

Practical work

In Tan Hung commune, Bau Bang district, the environment used to be one of the difficult criteria to achieve when building a new rural area. However, the Party Committee, government and people in the commune have made efforts to overcome difficulties and complete this criterion to be recognized as meeting the standards of an advanced new rural commune. Up to now, the environmental landscape in the commune has been improved, and people are properly aware of their role and responsibility in protecting the environment.

Mrs. Tran Thi Huong, living on Tan Hung 07 Street, Tan Hung Commune, shared that since the implementation of the new rural construction program, the local appearance has changed significantly compared to before; people's lives have been increasingly improved. In particular, the shabby images and the situation of littering on the roads have disappeared, replaced by clean, beautiful roads with rows of trees planted in an orderly manner. "Aware of their role and responsibility, local people actively participate with the locality in beautifying their hometown. My family plants and takes care of trees, collects waste according to regulations, and limits plastic waste. My family also joins the locality in calling on and mobilizing other households to join hands in protecting the environment," said Mrs. Huong.

In Phuoc Hoa commune, Phu Giao district, to implement the target of classifying domestic solid waste, the Youth Union and the Women's Union of the commune organized propaganda, guidance and mobilization of people to classify waste at source in the hamlets. Notably, the commune has developed and organized a program to exchange recycled waste for gifts; thereby encouraging people to participate in exchanging recycled waste to receive practical gifts such as trees, flowers, and bags used to hold classified waste. In particular, at schools, the program to exchange recycled waste for school supplies has attracted a large number of students to participate, thereby building environmental protection awareness from the younger generation.

Mrs. Truong Thu Huong, in Hamlet 1A, Phuoc Hoa Commune, confided: “Previously, I did not fully understand the importance of sorting waste at the source. After participating in the propaganda sessions and receiving meaningful gifts, I gradually changed my habits. Now, my family knows how to utilize organic waste as fertilizer for the garden, and collect inorganic and recyclable waste separately to transfer to the right place.”

Promote efficiency

Binh Duong has become a bright spot in environmental protection thanks to the joint efforts of the entire political system, organizations, unions and local people. Many creative and practical environmental protection models, from tree planting, waste sorting at source to waste recycling programs, have been deployed and replicated, bringing positive results, contributing to improving environmental quality and public awareness in environmental protection.

The model of self-managed environmental protection groups initiated by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee has become an important bridge in spreading environmental protection awareness to each household. Self-managed environmental protection groups regularly organize propaganda, build regulations and commit to environmental protection; at the same time, maintain and promote the effectiveness of outstanding models such as "Garbage-free route", "Bright - green - clean - beautiful neighborhood", "Waste classification at source", "Flower route"... The Provincial Women's Union has also made a strong mark in environmental protection work through the implementation of a series of creative and humane models, contributing to improving the living environment and supporting the community. A typical model is the model "Women collect scrap - give trees - save money to raise funds to help poor women", according to which members participating in the model both contribute to reducing waste and raising funds to support women in difficult circumstances. In addition, models such as "Turning waste into money", "Green house", "Household waste basket", "Flower route"... not only promote waste classification at source but also encourage a green, civilized lifestyle.

Responding to the program of "Civilized Saturday" and promoting environmental protection, recently the Front Work Committee of Dieu Hoa Hamlet, Bach Dang Commune, Tan Uyen City coordinated with the Women's Union of the hamlet to organize a campaign to clean up and plant flowers to beautify the main road passing through the hamlet. Flowers such as marble, purple afternoon, and white flowers were planted along the road, not only beautifying the landscape but also creating a friendly space close to nature. Mrs. Ho Thi Thuy, Head of the Women's Union of Dieu Hoa Hamlet, said that the association has mobilized organizations and kind-hearted individuals to support flower trees to be planted along the road. This is not only an activity to beautify the environment but also a way for the association to connect the community and spread awareness of environmental protection to each citizen.

Mr. Nguyen The Tung Lam, Deputy Head of the Environmental Protection Sub-Department, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said that the sub-department has been actively coordinating with departments and organizations to promote propaganda to raise awareness of environmental protection; at the same time, creatively building new and effective environmental protection models. These models, besides being effective solutions in improving the living environment, also demonstrate the spirit of solidarity and responsibility of all classes of people in environmental protection work, contributing to building the environment of the province to be increasingly green - clean - beautiful, sustainable and livable.

According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, in the coming time, the department will further strengthen its role in guiding activities, ensuring long-term strategic activities, suitable to the characteristics and situation of each unit; act as a bridge connecting the activities of each sector and related units to create a combined strength to serve the common goal of the province which is sustainable economic development associated with environmental protection.
