Binh Duong province’s delegation pays gift visit to soldiers and people of Nam Du island
On January 9, a delegation from Binh Duong province visited and wished a happy new year to officers, soldiers and people on Nam Du island. On behalf of the delegation, Colonel Tran Van Hung, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, sent New Year wishes of peace, prosperity, joy and happiness to the residents and armed forces on duty on the island.
Nam Du archipelago belongs to Kien Hai district, Kien Giang province. The archipelago has 21 large and small islands; of which, 11 islands are inhabited with two commune-level administrative units: An Son commune and Nam Du commune. On the two island communes of Nam Du archipelago, there are more than 1,100 households with more than 4,100 people.
There are civilian and military units stationed on the island, including: Radar Station 600 belongs to Regiment 551, Naval Region 5 Command; Border Post 742 (Kien Giang Provincial Border Guard) and Nam Du Lighthouse Station (Ministry of Transport).
